Platinum-containing cytostatic medications like Cisplatin are applied intravenously. The active substance spreads throughout the body and also crosses the blood-brain barrier. It accumulates especially in the kidneys, liver, intestines and testicles. The cytostatic agent and its metabolic products are excreted mainly in the urine, and to a small extent with bile, i.e. with the stool.
Data from Micro Trace Minerals suggests that hair reflects on past exposure to platinum-containing cytostatica.
