Metallexposition bei gesunden Kindern und solchen mit ASD

Schwermetalle und Spurenelemente in Blut, Haar und Urin nigerianischer Kinder mit Autismus

Da die Niger-Delta-Region Nigerias weithin für ihre Erdölindustrie und ihre Umweltverschmutzung bekannt ist, haben wir versucht nigerianische Kinder zu untersuchen, bei denen ASD diagnostiziert wurde. Diese haben wir gesunden nigerianischen Kindern gegenübergestellt, die in derselben Region leben, um zu untersuchen, ob diese eine größere Belastung durch toxische Metalle aufweisen. Während die ASD-Gruppe eine höhere Metallkonzentration in Blut und Haaren aufweist, verbunden mit niedrigen Blutzinkwerten, haben wir auch eine ungewöhnlich hohe Metallbelastung in der Gruppe der gesunden Kinder festgestellt, jedoch keinen Zinkmangel.

Milchzähne von Autisten enthalten laut NIH-Studie mehr Schwermetalle

Kinder mit einer Autismus-Spektrum-Störung hatten in einer Zwillings­studie erhöhte Konzentrationen von Blei und einen Mangel an Zink und Mangan in Bereichen ihrer Milchzähne, die in einer perinatalen Entwicklungsphase angelegt werden. Die Studienergebnisse in Nature Communications (2017; doi: 10.1038/ncomms15493) deuten auf Umweltfaktoren in der Ätiologie der Erkrankung hin, die immer häufiger diagnostiziert wird.

Autismus und Luftverschmutzung: Die Verbindung wird immer offensichtlicher

Kinder mit Autismus sind zwei bis dreimal so häufig als andere Kinder Autoabgasen, SMOG und anderen Luftschadstoffen in früher Kindheit ausgesetzt gewesen, dies zeigt eine aktuelle Studie.

Polluted Air Linked to Autism Risk

Pregnant women who live in smog-filled areas may be twice as likely to have children with autism, a new study suggests.

Exposure to diesel particulates, lead, manganese, mercury, methylene chloride and other pollutants are known to affect brain function and have influence of the development of the baby.

The study was a long-term study starting 1989 at Brigham and Woman's Hospital, 116,430 nurses where involved.

22,000 woman who had a child without the disorder and 325 who had a autism child were studied.

A Positive Association found between Autism Prevalence and Childhood Vaccination uptake across the U.S. Population

Abstract

The reason for the rapid rise of autism in the United States that began in the 1990s is a mystery. Although individuals probably have a genetic predisposition to develop autism, researchers suspect that one or more environmental triggers are also needed. One of those triggers might be the battery of vaccinations that young children receive. Using regression analysis and controlling for family income and ethnicity, the relationship between the proportion of children who received the recommended vaccines by age 2 years and the prevalence of autism (AUT) or speech or language impairment (SLI) in each U.S. state from 2001 and 2007 was determined. A positive and statistically significant relationship was found: The higher the proportion of children receiving recommended vaccinations, the higher was the prevalence of AUT or SLI. A 1% increase in vaccination was associated with an additional 680 children having AUT or SLI. Neither parental behavior nor access to care affected the results, since vaccination proportions were not significantly related (statistically) to any other disability or to the number of pediatricians in a U.S. state. The results suggest that although mercury has been removed from many vaccines, other culprits may link vaccines to autism. Further study into the relationship between vaccines and autism is warranted


Mom’s Exposure to Mercury Linked to Kids’ ADHD Symptoms

The health risks of mercury exposure are well documented, and the harms for still-developing fetuses are particularly concerning. Now, the latest study finds that kids who were exposed to more mercury in the womb were more likely to show problems with attention and hyperactivity and other symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) at age 8.

Scientists uncover link between gut bacteria and autism

A healthy gut bacteria should be the aim in the prevention and treatment of numerous diseases. Concerned parents and patients must still be made aware that microbiological testing of feces MUST be done in a local laboratory, testing must occur within 24hrs or else bacterial growth continues, leading to false high results, leading to inappropriate treatment (and medical costs).
